LONG ISLAND OPERA SEEKS BOARD MEMBERS

Positions: Members of the Board of Directors and volunteer positions are being created as part of Long Island Opera’s reorganization upon the appointment of Artistic Director, John Mario Di Costanzo.

The Board Member, in consultation with the Artistic Director, will be responsible for:
• Insuring the company’s general goals and cultural mission
• Fundraising
• Raising funds and managing endowments
• Development of company assets
• Developing and managing the Board
• Contracting the General Manager & Grant Writers
• Executive employee management
• Company insurance
• Approving season budgets

Organization: Long Island Opera is Long Island's oldest established opera company. As it begins its 42nd season, it will strive to become the world-class organization that Long Island deserves.

Qualifications: Ideal candidates should have a thorough knowledge of opera and passion for the repertoire. Candidates must also have strong ties to the business and social communities of Long Island.

Maestro John Mario di Costanzo, of Port Washington, has been chosen as the new Artistic Director of the LIO. A new President and Board of Directors will be announced in the coming weeks.

The new LIO production will be a concert with full orchestra conducted by Maestro Di Costanzo, to be announced shortly. The orchestra is being engaged now.

The LIO will be 50 years old in 2010 and will be announcing Anniversary plans soon.
